MTUTA CONQUERS TNM GOLF WINNERS

Development golfer Henry Mtuta was a marvel to watch at the Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) when he was crowned TNM Winner of Winners champion with a nett of 69 points, peeping Adam Sailesi on second with 76. Sailesi’s younger brother Adack was third with a nett of 71 points. Rising golfer Gabriel Kambalame was nearest to the pin while T. Sibindi had the longest drive.For being the champion, Mtuta received a trophy, a golf bag and a mug from TNM. Read More

TNM RECOGNISES BLANTYRE STUDENT

When he left home for school Monday morning, little did 17-year-old Lucious James expect that he would return home not only with his thirst for knowledge quenched, but also with the 'holes in his pockets' mended courtesy of mobile phone service provider TNM Limited. The Form 4 Zingwangwa Secondary School student became the inaugural winner of TNM initiative called Learning English Mobile (LEM) and went home K50,000 richer after accumulating the highest number of points in October.

MOJOO TRIUMPHS IN TNM MUGS OF MUGS

Youthful golfer Aadil Mojoo was in an imperious form to emerge this year’s TNM Mug of Mugs champion at Blantyre Sports Club. The centrepiece to his triumph was his second shot into every game that was all faultless. “I also hit a good close shot on hole 12 and then I putted on the last hole,” he said. Playing off a handcapp 2, Mojoo carried the day with a nett-score of 69. He got a latest Callaway pro-golf bag and a trophy.

TNM LAUNCHES LEARN ENGLISH MOBILE

TNM partnered with British Council on Saturday, 2nd October, 2010 to launch Learn English Mobile (LEM), a new product targeting English learners in the country. The launch took place at Mchinji Community Ground, in Mchinji District and aims at assisting learners across the country by offering English language lessons on their TNM handsets.

TNM DONATES VEHICLE TO YONECO

True to its word of partnership and corporate social responsibility, Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) has donated a Toyota pickup to Youth Net and Counselling (Yoneco). The vehicle will be used in the implementation of the organisation's programmes in various communities.

DONGA AND CHOW WIN QUARTERLY GOLF MUG

It was a sweet victory for Donga, who openly confessed that he is not used to winning. His score net point was 65, beating 64 fellow golfers who participated in the competition. Lagesh Patel was second with 66 points and William Chimpeni was third with 69 points while Henry Mtuta was fourth with 70 points.

HUMPHREYS WINS TNM LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

Humphreys emerged winner in the TNM ladies golf championship after seeing off rival Roza Mbilizi during the two-day competition held at Blantyre Sports Club. Humphreys and Mbilizi were the only two golfers, who competed in the main championship after they were seeded according to their better handicap. On Saturday, both Humphreys and Mbilizi tied at 89 points while*the following day, the champion maintained her scores with Mbilizi dropping to 93 points. Humphreys said she was consistent throughout the tournament.

TNM HOLDS 2010 FIRST QUARTERLY GOLF MUG
Blantyre, 08 February 2010

TNM held its first quarterly golf mug for this year on Saturday, 6th February at Blantyre Sports Club in which close to a hundred golfers competed. By the end of the day, it was Darvlin Chokazinga who scooped the top prize in men’s category taking home a trophy mug and a Nokia 5230 handset. Franco Banda and Nando Di Carlofelice secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. They took home Nokia X3 and Nokia 7210 handsets in the same order.

TNM GIVES RELIEF AID TO KARONGA EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Malawi’s mobile telecommunication pioneers, TNM, donated relief and communication items worth around 1.5 Million Kwacha to those affected by the Karonga earthquakes. Two strong earthquakes hit Karonga district in December 2009 killing 4 people, injuring over 200 people and displacing thousands of residents.

TNM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION: DONATES ONE MILLION KWACHA TO TREE PLANTING PROJECT

TNM, on 9th December 2009 donated One Million Kwacha to Heritage Environmental Trust for a tree planting project dubbed ‘Every Child to Plant a Tree Programme’ in Zomba district. Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Chikala Primary School in Zomba, TNM Chief Executive Officer Werner Schrijver said that it is sad that environmental degradation is at its peak and yet not much is being done to reverse the situation.
