His score net point was 65, beating 64 fellow golfers who participated in the competition. Lagesh Patel was second with 66 points and William Chimpeni was third with 69 points while Henry Mtuta was fourth with 70 points. For his exploits, TNM awarded Donga with an LG home theatre. Patel received Nokia Expresso while Chimpeni got an Arctic Norway picnic bag. Donga attributed his victory to the encouragement he receives from his fellow golfers. Peter Mthema won nearest-to the pin on hole 4 while Brigadier John Msonthi had the longest drive on hole 11. In women’s category, O Chow was the champion followed by Angela Bowden. In his victory speech Donga thanked TNM for organising the tournament. TNM sponsorship manager and head of communication, Wilma Chalulu, who described the event as “very successful” thanked the golfers for patronising the event and promised to continue with the Quarterly Mug. “It is satisfying to see that the number of golfers patronising this quarterly event is increasing every day. As TNM, we are very grateful for your support,” she said. Chalulu later recognised the newly-elected Nil Nyirongo-led LGC committee. Nyirongo’s deputy is Medson Roka while the competition secretary is Thakar Mahandra. Nyirongo takes over from Ben Wandawanda who did not seek re-election.
