TNM GIVES RELIEF AID TO KARONGA EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Malawi’s mobile telecommunication pioneers, TNM, donated relief and communication items worth around 1.5 Million Kwacha to those affected by the Karonga earthquakes. Two strong earthquakes hit Karonga district in December 2009 killing 4 people, injuring over 200 people and displacing thousands of residents.
The donation which was presented to the Principal Secretary for Disaster Relief and Management Affairs, Lilian N’goma, consists of tents for the victims; handsets and airtime for the relief workers. Speaking during the presentation, Chief Executive Officer for TNM Werner Schrijver said that TNM’s promise‚‘Always with you‘ is not an empty one because TNM is also there to assist in difficult times like these.
On receiving the donation, N’goma thanked TNM for the relief items and commended the company for providing them with airtime and handsets, hinting that communication is vital in disaster management.
