It was greener than green on Blantyre Sports Club’s golf course on the 24th October 2009 when golfers teed off with TNM in the last of this year’s TNM quarterly golf mugs. The tournament, which was the last chance for participants to qualify for the TNM Mug of Mugs on 12th December 2009, attracted more than 90 golfers.

Narendra Josh scored 71 net points to win the TNM Quarterly Mug at the Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday. The 12-year-old got the best of seasoned golfers Khuma Sendeza and Pravia Vansia who finished second and third, respectively. Josh won a golf bag. Sendeza counted out Vansia after both registered 74 points. Innocent Kwenda who won the Alexander Forbes Wednesday Ballpool came nearest to the pin while Harold Merwe made the longest drive. In his speech, Josh thanked his playing partners and the sponsors. "There was good golf played today by all of you. I enjoyed it," he said. The lad gave credit to his uncle Sunil Godambe and his father for helping to perfect his golf.
"This is not the first time for me to win a major competition. I have won several thanks, to them," he explained. Forty-eight golfers turned up for the competition. Players from first position to the seventh received prizes which ranged from golf bags to golf dubs but only three were seeded for the Champions of the Champions which TNM will host at, Blantyre Sports club next month. Only one lady participated in the TNM Mug and she finished on sixth position. TNM head of technical for the Central and Northern Regions Phylis Mangulati thanked the golfers for the turn out. "It has been quite a good day despite a lot of activities at the weekend, As a company, we take this opportunity to get updated and to update our clients of what is happening and what we intend to do," said Manguluti.
Lilongwe - Kambale secures TNM Open overnight lead

This year's two-day TNM Malawi Open golf tournament at the Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) teed off to a flying start with over 100 golfers going for the honours. The battle for honours in this year's tourney at the LGC started at exactly 7 am on Saturday, 16th May with all the golfers geared for the top prizes. "It would appear the golfers are well geared for this years' TNM Malawi Open here at the LGC if the numbers are anything to go by. The turn out has been very encouraging and am sure it will be a very tough tourney," said Wilma Chalulu, TNM public relations and sponsorship manager soon after tee-off.
Mahendra Thakur, a member of the organising committee, concurred with Chalulu: "If you look at the number of golfers competing, you will see that it will not be easy to come out tops in this year's tournament." By the time the golfers were calling it a day on Saturday, Victor Kachepatsonga was leading in the development players category with a total of 69 points (34,35) followed by Chris Kachingwe with 77 (38,39) while Adam Sayilesi and Paul Chidale tied at 79 points. In the championship division, Gabriel Kambale secured a one point lead with 79 points closely followed by Sean Raman and John Spencer a shot behind with 80 points. In the A Division, Ashtushi Godambe was in the forefront with 80 points, while Justine Mkandawire and Lee Chokri followed with 81 and 84 points, respectively. In the B Division, W. Matambo had tied with N. Joshi by accumulating 92 points closely followed by M. Lwanda on 93 points and P. Ganser with 95 points
Ladies Strokeplay championship - Humphreys triumphs in tnm ladies golf

Zelda Humphreys on 05 April overcame a two-shots deficit on day one of a two-day event to win the closely contested TNM Ladies Strokeplay championship. The previous day, Humphreys playing off handicap 11, had 87 gross, two points behind playing partner Rosa Mbilizi (handicap 5). Hunting her first win in the Championship Division, Humphreys also was a further six shots down yes-terday but fought on, one hole at a time to finish a point ahead with 177 gross against Mbilizi's 178.
"I was just doing the basic of course management," said Humphreys who apart from a golf bag also received a Nokia 7610 Supernova. She also thanked her playing partners and TNM "for sponsoring again." In the B Division, Ann Swankie was counted in to third position by Nisia Smit while Kerry Wright won the group with 217 gross, 11 points ahead of Smit and Wright. Blantyre Sports Club ladies golf captain Stella Ng'oma led by example when she won the A Division beating Diana Kambale and Lucy Ganiza. On day two, Ganiza came nearest to the pin, got the best nett yesterday and hit two clubs. Carol Bandamade the longest drive day one with Ng'oma doing so on the second day. Mbilizi also hit two club while Kambale got the best nett on day the first day.
The winners received various fabulous prizes from TNM. TNM CEO Werner Schrijver thanked the women for participating in the tournament which his company h been sponsorin since last year. The mobile phone service providers , also received praise from Ng'oma The tournament drew 17 women, down from last year 24.
The drop was attributed to the fact that ladies from Thyolo and Mulanje—some of whom are out of the country— did not pitch up for this year's event.
Lilongwe - Chilingulo wins TNM quartely mug

Clement Chilingulo on 21 March braved the rains to become champion in TNM golf tournament held at Lilongwe Golf Club. Chilingulo said it was difficult to score a net of 75 points because the course was too soft that the ball could not roll. He said the ball just stopped wherever it landed. "You know during the rainy season it is very difficult to maintain the course at a desirable standard unlike during summer when you can stop or continue watering to put the course to be in perfect condition," said Chilingulo. He added that he played well in front nine but had difficulties in back nine because of the rains. He was awarded a Nokia 5610 cell phone and thousand units of TNM air time. According to Chilingulo although this was a tough game he managed to win after a long time without winning. Chilingulo was followed by R Vancia, who scored a net of 75 points and received a golf bag and TNM air time. Junior golfer Ashtosh Godambe finished third three with a net of 78 points and was given a pair of Nike golf shoes and TNM units of air time. In ladies' category E Bailey was only one winner and received a travel bag and TNM units of air time.
Bailey thanked TNM for wonderful prizes but also stated that there was room for her to improve. Nearest to the pin and longest drive were both won by Ken Manda and he got a total of 1000 units of TNM airtime, a modern putter and a driver. TNM chief technical officer, David Chetty, said that company in January launched GPRS facility where customers could access internet services anywhere. "Customers can also connect their mobile phone to a laptop and be able to browse the internet," Chetty said. Chetty also disclosed TNM would shortly launch a number of value added services with the aim of meeting their customers' needs. He also presented a cheque of K300,000 to the president of the Junior Golfers Association to assist the junior golfers team that is expected to compete in All Africa Juniors Golf tournament in Mombasa, Kenya from 31 March to 1 April.
According to the president of the association, who also happened to be the winner of the tournament, Chilingulo, said they needed K2 million to have a successful trip. He said so far they have managed to raise K700, 000, which- is not enough. He then appealed to all well wishers to assist the junior golfers with money to enable the team to participate.
Blantyre - TNM golf to be played quarterly

Mobile phone network service provider TNM at the weekend announced it has changed its monthly mug competition to a quarterly tournament to make it more exciting. The upshot was announced by the company's operations and maintenance manager David Nyirenda during the prize presentation of this year's First tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Sunday evening. "This doesn't mean it [the tournament] is now smaller. In fact, it will be more exciting," said Nyirenda. He also thanked the field of 75 golfers for taking part, noting without them, the tournament would not have succeeded. "The tournament helps us to interact and share some ideas," said Nyirenda. Seventeen-year-old lower six Saint Andrews High School student Amin van der Watt emerged champion with a brilliant score of 77 gross and 68 nett. The blossoming golfer was outstanding on the front nine but somehow messed up on holes 13 and 14 on which he double bogeyed.
"Then I finished with a birdie par which is the best 1 have ever played," said van der Watt who was visibly floating on air. ."Thanks go to the sponsors TNM and the committee. It was quite a wonderful day. Thanks to the green keepers as well, they are doing a good job and the course is looking good." For his feat, van der Watt went home with a Nokia GPRS phone and 1,000 TNM units. With a gross of 93 and a nett of 70 was 14-year-old wonderkid Waseem Giga—he got Nike golf shoes and 1,000 units. John Katsala came third with a gross of 89 and a nett of 71. He got a Jack Nicholas travelling bag and 1,000 units. Y.W Noh and Charles Nseula came fourth and fifth, respectively to qualifying for the champion of champions to be staged at the end of the year. Van der Watt also made the longest drive on hole number 17 and got 500 units and a power driver.
Nearest to the pin on hole number 5 was Gabriel Kambale—he got a putter and 500 units. With a gross of 76 and 72 nett, James Shonga was the best development golfer and he got 3,000 units. That was not all—Shonga also took home a Reeboek golf bag and 500 units for amassing the best gross (76). Six golfers—Steve Chisale, Kambale, Franco Banda, Welkam Phiri, Tony Chiwaya and Dan Vosloo—had two clubs.

Blantyre - Kumwenda is tnm Mug of Mugs Champion

Playing off handicap 12, Kamkwamba Kumwenda survived a double bogey scare on the front at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) to become the TNM Champion of Champions with a net of 65 points. On a wet golf course, Kumwenda did not have the best of starts but he had his long drive to thank after managing 39 on the front. Understandably, Kumwenda got the eighth hole's longest drive to end the golf season on a high.
Helped by two birdies and some pars, the overall champion then hit 48 on his way back to emerge the best among all TNM monthly mug winners for the year. He received a travelling bag and trophy. "I was playing with development golfers who are good and that helped me a lot. My biggest asset was the driver. I hit long balls and that helped because it was so wet," said Kumwenda, who hinted that he might not be available next year as he is moving out of Blantyre.
The second place went to Tarang Makhecha with a net of 70 followed by Jimmy Changa at 72 net in the winners of winners' category. Charles Mukiwa was on top of proceedings in the open category with a net of 64 to receive a Nokia handset and trophy followed at 69 net by Zakaria Hara.
Lilongwe Golf Club captain Ben Wandawanda scored 70 to clsam the third position. Seasoned golfer Harold Lungu basked in the glory of earning the competition's best gross of 76 with James Shonga getting best development golfer prize. The TNM event was not without surprises as Harold Jiya achieved the unthinkable, hitting a hole in one on the opening hole. In his speech, TNM chief executive officer Werner Schrijver pledged continued sponsorship next year. "We have always been with you. I can assure you that we will be back next year," Schrijver said. Speaking earlier, BSC captain Bashir Sharrif hailed TNM for the continued support. The event attracted 100 golfers from Thyolo, Zomba, Lilongwe and Zomba.

Watch out for the Lilongwe 'champion of champions'! That's the warning to all Blantyre golfers from Iqbal 'Angoni' Jussab, the newly-crowned TNM Mug of Mugs champion for Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) ahead of the next TNM championship of champions scheduled for Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) this on December 08.
Jussab pulled out an impressive net-score of 70 in the Championship Division of the TNM-sponsored tournament held on 6th December at the 18-hole golf course. The Division attracted TNM monthly mug winners since January this year.
The Lilongwe-based golfer, who is likely to have his handicap chopped from 21 to 19, walked away with a trophy, a Callaway golf bag and 4,000 units courtesy of the mobile phone service providers. "This is a very big achievement for me. I had to please my four-year kid, Raymond, who called me a champ this morning. I have won several tournaments but this is my favourite," said Jussab, who participated in all the TNM monthly mugs.
Trailing Jussab was Mahendra Thakur, who counted out Pravin Vansia on net 77. Thakur got a trophy, a Ping Latitude bag and 2,500 units with Vansia receiving a trophy, a Callaway V bag and 1,500 units. The Open category was won by G Katz, who received 4,000 units and a Nokia 3600 mobile phone. Second-placed Diere Goutam got 2,500 units and a 3 Wood Taylor Made while third-placed S Takatoi walked away with 1,500 units and a Nokia 1680.
Michiko Sujimoto was presented with 4,000 units and a Ping Freestyle bag and a trophy for emerging the best lady golfer with Gift Landise getting 3,000 units and a Taylor Made Rescue Club as the best developing golfer. Brigadier John Msonthi Jr produced the longest drive and Victor Kachepatsonga was the Nearest Putter. The best gross went to Katz. Speaking after presenting the prizes,
TNM's chief executive officer Werner Schrijver hailed all the golfers for the supporting his firm throughout the year. "We have spent over K8 million for golf tournaments this year and because of the success we have all enjoyed, we are going to stay in golf. However, next year, we are going to take a more challenging approach," said Schrijver. The TNM boss also pledged that his firm will continue involving itself in other social projects like the Soap Campaign with Unicef and other sponsorship projects.

Lilongwe - 16-year old Godambe does it again

Sixteen-year-old Aashutosh Godambe turned hero again on 22nd November, when he emerged top in the TNM Monthly Mug for November played in sweltering hot conditions at the Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).
The son to Lilongwe-based veteran golfer Sunil Godambe pulled an impressive net score of 73 to finish top in a field of 51 golfers, who came to fight for places in the Mug of Mugs for Lilongwe scheduled for December 6 at the same venue.
Unlike last month, when he attributed his victory to the new club his father bought him, the young golfer paid tribute to junior golfers' trainer Christopher Kachiguma for sharpening his skills. "This time it is not my father... I thank Chris for sharpening my skills. This is the second time I am winning this tournament and I feel sorry for this. To show that I am sorry, I will not play if the Mug of Mugs," said the young golfer after getting his prize of a golf bag from TNM.
The young golfer clarified in a separate interview that he will be out of the country during the Mug of Mugs. On second position was Vinay Ganatra, who netted 75. Ganatra received a putter with Neil Cloppers, counted out to the third position getting a Siazenger 60 degrees lob .
Michiko Sujimoto received 4,000 units of talking time for emerging the best lady golfer with Shirar Pandor walking out with the same for hitting the best gross. Adam Sailesi got a mobile phone and 500 units of air time as best developing golfer. The prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin went to Tito Kelly and Pandor, respectively.
LGC captain Ben Wandawanda hailed TNM for living up to its commitment to sponsor the tournaments every month. TNM regional sales manager Richard Chinula was all thanks to golfers, LGC management and staff for supporting the company. He invited all the golfers to the Mug of Mugs, which he described as 'the mother for all the tournaments.' "We are going to line up mouth-watering prizes for the Mug of Mugs and those golfers, who have not made it to the Mug of Mugs will have their own categories," said Chinula.

Blantyre - Korean Noh wins October Mug

Korean Yong Noh saw off the challenge 44 other golfers to win the tnm monthly mug for October played in sweltering conditions at Blantyre Sports Club.
Noh scored a gross of 85 and 65 nett points to emerge winner. For his feat, Noh went home with a mountain bike and 1,000 units from tnm. A visibly excited Noh, who speaks the Queen's language with great difficulty, could only say: "I am very happy, thank you!"
On position two with a nett of 70 and a gross of 83 on this rather difficult course was Kamkwamba Kumwenda while Steve Chisale who had a nett of 71 and a gross of 76 came third. Kumwenda went home with a golf bag and 2,000 units while Chisale got 5,000 units.
Bashir Sharif who counted in Justice Frank Kapanda came fourth and got a set of Nike golf balls while Kapanda scooped fifth position and received 2,000 units and a set of golf balls.
Hudson Kantwanje and Andrew Ngomwa earned themselves automatic participation in the tnm mug of mugs competition for their performance in past tournaments. With a nett of 80. the best lady golfer was Diana Kambale. Nearest to the pin on hole one was Brigadier General John Msonthi Jr. He was also nearest to the pin on hole one.
The best developmental golfer was Sope Kaira. Chisale had the best gross of 76.
tnm chief executive officer Weiner Schrijver thanked the participants for their continued support. Blantyre Sports Club's outgoing captain James Chimwaza thanked TNM for their commitment and support towards the game.

Lilongwe - Teenager wins TNM Monthly Mug

Sixteen year old Aashutosh Godambe has emerged winner in October TNM Monthly Mug Golf Tournament after beating a field of 44 golfers with a net of 69 points in individual medal format.
Godambe, who is a form six student at Bishop Mackenzie International Schools, attributed his feat to a new golf set that his father bought for him. "My father saw that I was improving in golf and realized that I needed a new golf set and I also thank my playing partners for the encouragement they offered me during the tournament," said Godambe.
Godambe got a mountain bike and 2000 units worth of TNM air time and a Nokia 1200 cell phone.
D Rajani, who scored a net of 70 points, finished second and he received Proline Golf Bag and 1000 units of TNM air time. R Vancia, who scored 71 points, was on third position and got 5000 units of TNM air time. According to Lilongwe Golf Club captain, Ben Wandawanda, Rajani and Landis will be playing handicap 10 and 12 respectively. "The golf committee has decided to give Rajani handicap 10 and Vancia handicap 12," said Wandawanda.
In ladies category the winner was M Tsujimoto who went home with 4000 units of TNM air time and a Nokia 1200 cell phone. Development golfer who scooped the first position was G Landis and the best gross award was given to Kiwe Sebunya, who had 80 points gross. Nearest to pin was P. Vancia, who was given a Nokia 1200 cell phone and 1000 units of TNM air time. in his remarks TNM regional sales manager for central and north, Richard Chinula, said that so far the monthly mugs golf tournaments have been going on well since they started in January and TNM is expecting a better Mug of Mugs tournament in December. "It has been a long journey and I am thanking all who have been taking part in these tournaments starting from stakeholders, golf committee, golfers themselves and also TNM staff," said Chinula.
Chinula also said that TNM has welfare of its customers at heart that it has embarked on network expansion programme in order to'improve its services. "By the end of the first phase in July we had opened forty new net work coverage sites both in urban and rural areas and at the end of the whole programme we are expecting to open 100 new network coverage sites," said Chinula.
He also said that TNM has also launched a missed call notification programme and SMS promotion where customers get free SMS every time they top up their mobile phones with air time. "We have done this to celebrate the new SMS platform whose installation has just been finalized" said Chinula.
Chinula also said that TNM is also renovating Mzuzu Golf Club where work is currently under way.

Blantyre - Phiri wins tnm September Monthly Mug

With a nett of 70, Welkam Phiri stood head and shoulders above a field of 71 other golfers to emerge , champion of the tnm September monthly mug played in sweltering conditions at the Blantyre Sports Club on the 28th of September.
The IndeBank head of marketing and business development could not hide his excitement after being declared the winner and attributed his feat to splendid drive and good patting. "The greens are in need of urgent attention and it made judgement a bit difficult but all the same I did try my best. My drive was fantastic and my patting was also good.
"I am very excited, it's a good feeling because I have been looking forward to winning this tournament," said Phiri. For his feat, Phiri went away with 3,000 tnm units and a Nike travelling bag.
On position two with a nett of 75 was veteran golfer Kingsley Chimdima Mhango and he got equipment for improving patting as well as 500 tnm units. It was a delightful weekend for the Mhango family as the son Chingaipe won the Standard Bank Ballpool on Friday at — Country Club Limbe.
Webster Kaunda, another IndeBank employee, scooped third position. He got triceps and biceps muscle builder and 500 units for his feat. Kaunda faired well on hole 15, considered the most difficult hole on the course where he got a birdie.
"I had a very relaxed day. I had real fun, especially playing in the morning when the weather was a bit cool. I am excited because I have always wanted to get this far in the tnm monthly mug. He also said the muscle builder prize is perfect for the gym at his pad.
Seasoned-golfer James Mkwanda scooped the fourth position and with a nett of 77. Adaki Sailesi won the development golfer's category. Nearest to the pin on hole five was Sope Kaira while Gabriel Kambale had the longest drive, they all got assorted prizes.
Speaking before the prize presentation ceremony, tnm's chief executive officer Werner Schrijver thanked the golfers for their continued participation in the monthly showcase. "We will continue sponsoring this event because it is one way of socialising with our customers," said Schrijver.
Lilongwe - Vansia wins tnm Golf Tourney

Praveen Vansia emerged the tnm golf tournament winner on 27 September when he beat a field of 38 golfers at Lilongwe golf club.
Playing handicap 18, Vansia scored a net of 72. He won a Nike bag costing K7, 572.50 and 20 dollars tnm airtime worth K2, 800.
Caesar Mudondo clinched second position having scored a net of 73. He won island green patting valued at Kl 1,650 and 5 dollars tnm airtime.
Third position prize winner was Neil Kloppers, who amassed a net score of 74 and got a 4 way exercise set valued at K 7, 572.50 and 5 dollars airtime plus a sim card. Hament Baghat won nearest to the pin on hole number 13 and received a Nokia 1200 and a sim card complete with 5 dollars airtime.
Longest drive award went to Lilongwe golf club vice captain, Justin Mkandawire, who got a Nokia 1200 with a sim card and 5 dollars.
Lilongwe golf captain, Ben Wandawanda got the best gross prize and carried home 25 dollars airtime and a sim card.
Texa Banda won the developing golfer prize and was rewarded with a Nokia 1200 plus a sim card with 5 dollars airtime.
M. Kim was the only lady who took part in the tournament and got 30 dollars airtime with a sim card.
Vansia, who is also the vice chairman of Lilongwe golf club, thanked other golfers for taking part in the tournament.
He also thanked tnm for sponsoring the tournament and hoped it would continue being always with golfers in the country.
tnm Southern and Northern Regional Sales Manager, Richard Chinula, praised the golfers who participated.
Chinula reminded the golfers that tnm was still the greatest sponsor and developer of golf in the country.
He said he was aware that most customers of tnm were golfers and the company would continue supporting them.
"I would like also to tell you that we have opened a new tnm office at crossroads here in Lilongwe where you can go and get assistance. We are doing all this to extend our coverage," he said.
The regional manager revealed that in two months time the company would hold a mug of mugs golf tourney where winners would get fabulous prizes.
Chinula thanked the outgoing Lilongwe golf club committee for the warm reception it had been giving to the company's tournaments.
He said the company was ready to work with the new committee.

Mwakhwawa joins tnm Mug race

Lawyer John Gift Mwakhwawa joined the race for the end of the year Champion of Champions when he won the August tnm Monthly Mug golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Sunday.
He hammered a good score of nett 71 beating a field of 69 golfers and his runner-up was veteran Jimmy Mkwanda on nett 72.
Mkwanda counted out Jimmy Changa, who also scored nett 72 but came third.
Interestingly, Changa and Mwakhwawa are always playing partners together with Justice John Katsala, Hardson Kantwanje and Justice Frank Kapanda.
In his speech, Mwakhwawa thanked his playing partners for their ever enthusiasm when they get into the course. "You inspire me to enjoy my golf because we always play to win in our group," he said. "I also thank Clifford Nowa who brought me into golf.
"I also owe a lot to all of you for your keen participation in all sponsored tournaments especially in the tnm Monthly Mug. The sponsors have given us a good stage to enjoy ourselves and I thank them for supporting us," he said.
The ladies category went to Roza Mbilizi while the Development golf champion was Paul Chidale on nett 72, who also posted the best gross of 74.
Gabriel Kambale had the longest drive while Anthony Ngoma was nearest to the pin on hole number 13.
Blantyre Sports Club captain James Cbimwaza applauded the sponsors for their ever presence at the monthly event.
"We also thank tnm because they always bring their members of staff to interface with the golfers for us to appreciate the good services they give us," he said. "That is why we always get so many golfers from as far as Lilongwe, Mulanje, Thyolo and Zomba."
He then announced that from next month till November, the top five in the monthly mug will qualify for the Champion of Champions.
Merrick wins tnm July Mug

Charles Merrick posted an impressive score of nett 73 to win the July tnm Mug a Blantyre Sports on 20 July 2008 and join the race for the end of the year Champion of Champions.
His runner-up was Samson Mwale, who scored nett 70 and he counted out teenager Tadala Malikita, who is son to last month's winner Ronuel.
The ladies category went to Roza Mbilizi, who on Saturday won the women's category of the National Bank individual stableford tournament at Nchalo Sports Club.
Interestingly, Roza's husband won the Nchalo men's category.
The development golfer category went to Rex Matope while the longest drive on the 6th hole went to Gabriel Kambale.
Lester Tandwe was nearest to the pin on the 12th.
Champion for May was Sylvester Ngoma followed by BSC vice-captain Bashir Shariff while Lilongwe-based Clement Chilingulo came third.
April champion was Masauko Msungama followed by Roza Mbilizi on second place and Dingaan Chirwa on third.
Champion for March was Aboo Osman while February's was teenager Armin van der Walt.
The January event is yet to be played after it was cancelled because of heavy rains in the middle of the tournament.
The monthly mugs culminate into the Champion of Champions, which was won by veteran golfer Jimmy Mkwanda in its inaugural event last year.
Last year's monthly champions at BSC were Msungama in January, Peter Humphrey in February, James Shonga in March, Mbilizi in April, Young Bok Noh in May, Kamkwamba Kumwenda in June, Hannock Ng'oma in July, John B. Kachilika in August, Macheka in September, Raffique Maru in October and the November one went to teenager Chimwaza, son to the BSC captain James Chimwaza.
Blantyre Sports Club captain James Chimwaza was full of praises for the sponsors, saying the tnm monthly mugs were really becoming very popular as evidenced by the huge field of 75 golfers that registered.
Malikita and Vash jointly win Mug

Ron Malikita and Mukesh Vash are winners of this month's tnm monthly mugs at Blantyre Sports Club and Lilongwe Golf Club respectively.
Both posted nett 69 at their respective clubs and qualify for the grande finale — the tnm Champion of Champions at the end of the year.
Playing off handicap 10, Malikita beat a field of 73 golfers and his runner-up was lady golfer Roza Mbilizi (handicap 9), who scored net 70 and on third place was Harold Lungu, handicap 5, who posted nett 71.
tnm also provides a prize for the best Development Golfer and it went to Paul Chidale on nett 73.
Longest drive on hole number 8 went to Jabbar Alide, Kasim Aroni was nearest to the pin on number 14 whie Abdul Mahommed scored the best gross of 73 (39 in and 34 out).
In Lilongwe, Mukesh Vash was followed by J. Lim on position two with nett 70 while Van D Merwe scored nett 72.
In the ladies' category, the winner was C. Stellmach (nett 72) with Karen Baylis as runner-up on 75.

tnm expects stiff competition in Mug of Mugs tournament

Mobile telecommunications network company, tnm, has said that this year's Mug of Mugs golf tournament which will be held in December is going to be exciting.
According to tnm's regional marketing manager for the centre, Richard Chinula, there is no golfer who has won twice in monthly mugs tournament so far.
"So far the monthly mugs tournaments, no golfer has won twice, the development that proves that golfers are really competing and we are likely to have lots of good golfers in this year's Mug of Mugs should this trend continue," said Chinula.
He made the remarks on Sunday after May's mug golf tournament that saw Thiem Grone emerging the winner after beating 38 other golfers' with a net of 70 points and was awarded with a patting mat and 1000 units of tnm air time.
Runners up was Iqbar lussab who scooped a net of 72 points and went away with a Nokia 1200 cell phone, a starter pack and 1000 units of tnm air time.
Stallard Mpala came on position three after he managed to get 74 points net and was rewarded with starter pack with 3000 units of tnm air time.
Nearest to the pin was William Matambo and longest drive was Walid Abubaker on hole number 17 and went away with starter a pack and 1500 units of tnm air time each.
According to Chinula, the tnm Mug of Mugs comprises of all winning golfers in monthly mugs from January to November.
He said the tournaments also helped them to interact with customers and share some ideas on business.
"During tournaments we get free advice and feed back from our customers and in the process we know where to improve in order to meet our clients' needs," said Chinula.
